Affirming the words of Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it”, the Stewardship Ministry Team acknowledges that all, including our financial resources, is from God and are God’s.  We are committed to the counsel of the over 2300 verses in the Bible that address the use of our money and possessions as we seek to be faithful stewards of the money He provides us to fund our ministry work at Rock.

We seek to provide the type of environment that encourages prayerful, generous, and joyful giving as Paul states in 2 Corinthians 9:6-4, “Remember this, whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”.  Listed below are some of our responsibilities:

• Educate and challenge the congregation to practice responsible biblical financial stewardship

• Oversee the income and expenditures of the church

• Keep the congregation informed about the financial status of the church

• Work with Ministry Teams to prepare a church budget each year before stewardship emphasis season and present the budget to the Session

• Prepare and coordinate a yearly stewardship emphasis program concluding with Stewardship Dedication Sunday

• Work with the Pastor and Session to ensure that stewardship is emphasized year round

• Provide advice and consultation to the Session and congregation on the financial aspects of future growth needs of the church
